Renting a scooter in NYC

One of the coolest things about Second Life is that it is a video game mixed with real life accessibility. I was able to rent a scooter, go do a little sightseeing, and return it when finished. I did not expect that at all!

Greece

This was a cute museum in Greece that looks like a building that I have seen before. It was intersting to look at the different architecture in the European towns. It was also cool to see their country's flag waving on the side of many of their buildings there.

Beach

me and joe at the beach just exploring.

amusement park

at the entrance of the amusement park. just about to enter to go on rides

Park

in some park where there was a big mushroom as you can see in the backround

Group in Egypt

The three of us met as this cool ocean front place in Greece! It looked like a great place to spend an evening in the real world!

Real World vs. In World

- Second Life is different than the real world in a few specific ways. The Second Life has destinations and places to go, but the places do not seem to show enough of what the place is actually like! The vacation spots, for example, look pretty in Second Life but they are nothing like taking a snapshot of the real place. Also, the animated avatars have many similar qualities and traits that people have, but they are definitely not the same. They can not move as quickly or in the identical gestures as humans can, but one great thing that they can do is fly! We also noticed that there are places that you can not go, which anyone would be able to access in the real world.
- When we all had to meet as a group, it was a little easier than meeting in real life. All we had to do was find a location anywhere around the world and teleport each other there! That was simple, easy and quick.
- Second Life can enhance teaching by allowing the students to see different places in the world. The instructors can take their avatar around the world to thousands of locations and show their students exactly what it's like there. No more nead for class trips! Now it's all in front of you on a computer screen. It ties in the arts and culture by showing the different landscapes, scenery and general people in these locations. Students, first hand, will be able to clearly see and grasp what the teachers have told them about these locations. We think this would be a neat tool to use in the classroom to not only keep the students interested but also the teacher!

Los Angeles

Last summer I visited LA, so I thought it would be interesting to go see what it was like in Second Life. I loved this cute little house on the beach front here! It really caught my eye when I ventured down the street. It seemed very colorful and peaceful here in Los Angeles.

Korea

Oh Korea! One of my family members is originally from here, so I thought it would be cool to check it out. This environment was interesting. Some of the people were dressed in strange costumes and there were hanging lights and decorations around this area. It seemed almost like there was some sort of celebration going on. Pretty neat!

France

This is, technically, my third time that I've gone to France. I absolutely love France! This museum/building caught my eye because it had a bunch of fashion pictures. The pictures were all on posters set around the room. They were all of different women in unique clothing. I thought it was pretty cool to see the latest fashion trends that always start here in France!

Florida

This was a cool place! I just got back from Florida about three months ago.. This neat place was tucked back on a separate island here in Florida. I liked the wooden bridge that leads to a small, quaint building. The water looks like a pretty blue color that I wish we had here locally!

Costa Rica

This place was so pretty! I actually spotted some waterfalls streaming down these high mountains. I made my way down the hill and literally fell down the waterfall! This was a pretty neat picture I was able to capture.
